How to choose carton sealing tape: five key parameters
Thickness, width, adhesive type, tack/holding and length decide the strength and total cost of carton sealing tape.
Carton sealing tape looks simple, but the wrong thickness, adhesive or width can cause breakage, pop-open or higher cost. Start from carton weight, sealing method (manual/machine) and environment.
Five key parameters
- Thickness — 40/45/50μm common; thicker is stronger but costs more
- Width — 48mm for manual, matched to sealer for machine use
- Adhesive — water-based (eco), hot-melt (strong tack), solvent (weather resistant)
- Tack & holding — decide seal strength and pop-open resistance
- Length — estimate from daily usage to avoid frequent roll changes
